Fire? flowers? explosion? i don't know!

so this is that last piece, with MORE work done to it to make it more-"complete". according to my art teacher it still isn't done, so more work! more work! this is just tissue paper applied on top of the skyline, then torn from the middle out. people say it looks like a fire ball exploaded, i don't see it that way, but whatever. i got out-voted lol . the flowers are tissue paper too, they're the scraps from what i tore out of the middle, it's pretty cool in person cause you can feel all the layers of texture and stuff that's been created by all the layering and such.

Gossip spreads like a wild fire in a city.....

this one, well, it's a silhouette city sky line, obviously :) the background is all layered and layered tissue paper (which will stain your hands btw) i didn't intentionally make it look like the city was on fire, but that seems to be what everybody else sees, so what the heck, sure, it's "on fire" lol . Unfortunatly, this pieces was counted as "incomplete" because it wasn't good enough for my portfolio, so i have to do more -more stuff to it.

The Loner Tree......

This is assignment number 2. It's a relitivly small piece compared to most of what i do, only 8 1/2 by 11". it's acrylic, ink, tissue paper, sharpie, and the white is actually white out. i was getting creative-er :D and if you look really hard, you can see 4 tiny little owls sitting on the tree branches. sometime i'm going to have to go back in and make those stand out more, but for now it's fine.

Might I Pointe Out.....

This piece was my first challenge in class. What it is..... a pair of pointe shoes (like in ballet) glued to a distressed canvas, with Nutcracker tickets, dried flowers (from one of my past ballet performances, yes I am a "ballerina"), and some fun swirly thingys and fleur-de-lis. The hisotry behind this piece is very personal. Those are my first pair of real pointe shoes that i got when i was like 12 or 13. So exciting! :) Super sentamental for me, so what a great way this was for me to capture the grace and joy of having them and how dance for me is in general.

Summer Crazies

Well, obviously this is an abstract piece. Pretty fun to make though, i must admit it was, well, actually, a LOT of fun just being random lol. :D it has like acrylics, puff-paint, tissue paper, watercolor, ink, finger nail polish, crackle, glitter, you name it, it's just a hodge-podge of messy, creative splatters of release. :D

In the Eye of the Beholder

Just for the heck of it, i'm going to post some of my AP Art Studio pieces :) this first one is one of my "summer pieces" it's a self portrait, of well, me obviously lol . well more specifically my eye, but whatever. it's acrylic paint and chalk pastel, with modeling paste for the hair and eye texture, as well as some on the nose to raise it up a smidgen. oh, and eyes are freakin hard to draw right lol :D

My favorite quote.....Love isn't something that can be written on paper, for paper can be eraised. Nor is it something that is etched in stone, for a stone can be broken. But it is enscribed on the heart, and there it shall remain forever.

Me, Myself, and I

So i guess i' d better start by saying a little something about myself. I mean that is the first word in my thing, My Self. So I'm Sarah. Born in Washington, grew up in Washington, live in Washington, hate Washington weather (all this stupid rain) yup, so that's a basic start. I go to ARHS and i'm a Senior this year. I went there my Freshman and Sophmore years, went to FHS for my Junior year (which sucked) and then now i'm back where i started. I'm taking French 5 (technically 3rd year), Civics (stupid required class that i didn't have to take at FHS but now do at ARHS with a bunch of Juniors), Math (not my strongest subject at all), Creative Writing (goodby stupid grammer classes, hello writing whatever i feel like), Psychology ( don't make an dumb comments on this, it's actually quite interesting and no i don't want to be a shrink), and then AP Art Studio (yes! so much fun!).

AP Art Studio is by far one of my most favorite classes that i've ever taken. It's a pretty challenging art class ( i know, some people are rolling their eyes laughing at the thought of a hard art class). In May, we have to present a portfolio of 24 pieces of art that we did in class (and summer work). 4 or 5 have to be the origionals sent in, and the rest digitally sent in. This equates to 1 piece a week. So it's pretty intense. plus we have these Art Journals that we have to do everyweek (due Mondays). It's an awesome class. For our pieces we have to respond to prompts given to us by our teacher (the fabulous Mrs. Lobdell) that tell us what we have to have included in our piece (like a tree or landscape) and then now we have to also do certain color schemes. (like analogous or complementary, you get the picture). But it's such a fun class. We have pretty much everything we could want to use in our painting including: tissue paper, broken glass, ribbons, little do-dads, wire, fabric, beads, modeling paste, and a huge variety of paints, chalk and oil pastels, graphite, access to computer images and programs, you name it. If there is something that we don't have in the art room, our teacher will try to get it for us or we'll bring stuff in for eachother. It is SO much fun. :)

Why? Good Question! ;)

Well.........One of my very close friends got a blog, and it was fun to read. So i decided what the heck, I'll be a 'blogger' too. lol :D Anyways, i guess I'm just doing this for fun, and a little bit of a release where i can just say whatever's on my mind. i mean that's the point isn't it? :) And I'll probably be posting my art on here (which is like a non-separable part of my life) and some stories or poems that I've written (courtesy of my creative writing class) and just whatever really. This is going to be fun :)
